Bread and Vine

Bread and Vine

Jesus is depicted the bread of life. For many, bread is a main sustenance. No one riots for caviar, but they do riot for bread. “It is one of the beauties of this metaphor that bread, like the One who made the hands that made the bread, contains both: enjoyment and necessity, sustenance and pleasure.”

The story of packing box lunches to avoid Jim Crow issues and how that is similar to God providing food for the Israelites in the wilderness.

Jesus identifies himself as the true vine and his blood as wine itself. "Wine is God’s special drink. The purpose of good wine is to inspire us to a livelier sense of gratitude to God.” John Calvin

We need to be intoxicated on Jesus.
