6: Love Works
Love works, but we have to work at love.
PAUL, AN EXAMPLE OF LOVE. Paul actually tells the Corinthians to imitate him. Three ways that Paul worked at love in the next sections.
- LOVE WORKS LIKE A PAREN’TS LOVE. Paul talks about the pains of childbirth, nursing, and love a father. Christian love has no end point, but it has direction. “One of our grace assignments in the church is to be mothers and fathers of others in the faith. How are we to accomplish this? The single, most powerful influence of parents on children is the dynamic of presence. Likewise, we work at love for others in a parental way through the dynamic of our presence.”
