Sharing Peace: Discipline and Trust
Paul J. Wadell
Few people realize that sharing the peace of Christ is a considerable commitment to God’s order that is established by patient, suffering love.
The Church: Called to be an Icon of the Trinity. The church is called to be an icon of the trinity and model that relationship of love joy, and peace. That means resisting relationships that are marked by domination, fear, jealously, distrust, or manipulation. This way of living is formed through the prayer and worship of the Church.
Eucharist: learning and Living the Practices of Peace. The sign of the peace of Christ is a symbol of a way of life.
- This life is characterized by unity. As Christians we should never be comfortable with things that fragment or divide, but work to overcome them.
- We are gifted people. Everything we have is a gift from God. “Peace is possible when people surrender to the fat that their lives are in God’s hands and that their ultimate security lies not in wealth or weapons, possessions or power, but in God’s love.”
- This way of life transforms us. Just as the bread and wine of the eucharists is transformed, the peace of Christ should transform our lives.
- It is not just a symbol, but a way of life.
