Bonhoeffer had goe to work for the conspiracy to depose Hitler. He was hugely conflicted about his role as a Pastor and theologian and his role as a lawbreaker, even if the laws were wrong. He was working on a book called Ethics which he never finished. He struggled during this time about the role of the individual and the church in the life of the state and its institutions.
