With Eyes Wide Open—Mediations
Bonhoeffer wrote started a commentary on his favorite Psalm—119. It broke off abruptly in the middle of his commentary on verses 17-26. It was written in 1940 when he knew he was personally entering ethically uncertain times because of his opposition to the Nazi regime and the actions he would be willing to take to stop it. He mediates on the Law of God and how it applies to the current day.
