Chap. 27-28

Chap. 27: On the Mountain with Jesus

Tragedies can change life dramatically.

ON THE MOUNT OF TRANSFIGURATION WITH JESUS. "We need to join Jesus, his disciples, and both Moses and Elijah on the mountain and see that we, too, will someday shine in transfiguration glory. Standing there with Jesus can give us a transfiguration perspective on life."

TRANSFIGURATION PERSPECTIVES TODAY. "Next to the Blessed Sacrament itself, your neighbour is the holiest object presented to your senses. If he is your Christian neighbour he is holy in almost the same way, for in him also Christ vere latitat—the glorifier and the glorified, Glory Himself, is truly hidden." C. S. Lewis

Chap. 28. At the Last Supper with Jesus

Our memory awakens our past.We need to have rhythms and rituals in our lives.

SACRED RHYTHM AND THE JESUS CREED. Sacred rhythms keep our spirits awake. Jesus modifies the sacred rhythms of the Jews. The Lord's Supper is a modification of the Passover meal where Jesus because the Lamb.

THE LAST SUPPER AS SIGN AND SACRED RHYTHM. "Jesus establishes for his followers a physical, sacred rhythm so they will never forget his gracious act of love for them."

COME, LET US TASTE AND SEE. In the Lord's Supper we participate in Jesus' life and death for us.

We participate in the life of Jesus by physically eating the meal. We are called to act when we eat and drink the elements.

We participate in the life of Jesus by trusting him physically.

We participate in the life of Jesus by proclaiming him physically. Paul says that "whenever you eat … you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes."
