Premodern Jewish Conceptions of Jesus

There is little Jewish literature existing that talks about Jesus. much of what exists is critical of Jesus. That is not surprising given the way the Christian powers treated Jews.

The Question of the "Historical Jesus

In the 1700s work on the historic Jesus begun. Much of it denied his divinity.

Adam Geiger’s Jewish Jesus. Geiger argued that Jesus was a Pharisee, a follower of Hillel. Geiger does not believe Jesus did anything original.

Joseph Klausner’s Jesus of Nazarteh.  His work was both praised and criticized by both Jews and Christians. While flawed, it is still an important book.
