Jesus' idea of spiritual formation was focused around what Scott calls the Jesus Creed. The Shema with the addition, "Love your neighbor as yourself."
From 613… The Jews of Jesus day had 613 rules that helped interpret the Torah. They were notoriously difficult to follow and Jesus let the establishment know how sterile and ridiculous way.

What Changed for Me. With the two commandments as a framework, Scott's reading of the NT changed and he saw it in a different light.
