Chapter 8: THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
The mission policy was to send the children to board school for 9 months of the year. It was traumatic for a 6 year old. and his 8 year old sister.
RULES AND RULERS. Rules were strict, and infractions were met with a slap from the edge of a rule.
THE BAD NEWS LIST. Infarctions of some rules led to being on the bad news list which led to a “spanking”, one swat per infraction. Spanking is the wrong word—it was really a beating.
REIGN OF TERROR. Wess admits to something he didn’t do in order to stop agh group from being punished. He was severely beaten and made to wear a sign for week that said “”People can’t believe what I say.”
CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE. The children were told that if they made negative to their parents, their mission in Africa would be minimized and that would condemn Africa to hell.
