Chapter 20: OPEN TO NEW VICTORY OVER SIN
The work of the Spirit does not happen at a steady pace not is it instantaneous. “In fact, the deepest will of God is that we believe in Christ and love God and love others with every globule of our being.”
How do we gain victory over sin?
ACKNOWLEDGE THAT LIVING IN THE WAY OF JESUS IS A BATTLE. We are involved in a battle of self versus the Spirit.
TWO UNAVOIDABLE FACTS ABOUT SINS. Sin begins with sensual and sexual desires and sin is final separation from God.
BECAUSE OF JESUS, A HEARTLAND EVANGELICAL TURNS PACIFIST. You have to be convicted of and acknowledge your sin.
FAITH IS YOUR WAY FORWARD. “The energies of God are unleashed in us when we live by faith in God’s Spirit to transform. And second, all this happens if we “live by the Spirit” and “keep in step with the Spirit.” The words live and keep in step are what I mean by openness to the Spirit.”
